A detailed introduction is given to sustainability metrics and their applications. Approaches to measure and quantify common sustainability indicators are described.<\/p>\n<p>Using case studies, the use of metrics to formulate sustainability plans \/ programs \/ objectives is highlighted. An update was given on natural skincare ingredients that are being used for functionality, followed by the use of plant cell technology to produce novel actives. With Asia housing the largest Muslim population, there is growing interest in Halal cosmetics. Details were given of certification, as well as permitted \/ prohibited ingredients.
